JOB DESCRIPTION

Do you want to make a difference in young people's lives and contribute to a safer and more present school environment? We are now looking for a temporary student coach for Malung-Sälen Municipality. Due to a planned parental leave, we are now seeking a temporary student coach for Centralskolan in Malung who wants to work closely with young people and be an important part of the effort to increase school attendance and strengthen students' motivation.

As a student coach, you primarily work preventively and promote a safe and inclusive school environment. You will be a clear adult role model who is present close to the students in corridors, cafeterias, study support, and the dining hall. The role involves actively seeking out students and building relationships as a foundation for motivation and change.

A central part of the assignment is to maintain close contact with students who are at risk of problematic school absenteeism. The tasks include, among others:

• Maintaining daily contact with students
• Being a present adult in the school environment, visible in corridors and common areas.
• Following up on students' absences and quickly contacting when students deviate from school.
• Supporting students in finding effective strategies for studies and daily life.
• Collaborating with guardians, student health, mentors, career counselors, child and adolescent psychiatry, social services, and other stakeholders.
• Having regular check-ins with the principal and counselor.
• The work requires great flexibility, independence, and a genuine commitment to the well-being and future of young people.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is relationship-building, action-oriented, and confident in themselves. You have a natural ability to build trust and create reliable relationships, especially with teenagers. To succeed in this role, we see that you have:

• Experience working with young people, preferably in schools, leisure activities, social work, or similar.
• Knowledge and understanding of problematic school absenteeism and how to work motivationally.
• Good collaboration skills and experience working with various stakeholders.
• The ability to work independently and see what needs to be done and then do it.
• Digital competence and comfort in using social platforms in contact with young people.

It is advantageous if you have education in pedagogy, social work, behavioral science, or a similar field. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

The position includes documenting and reporting results, as well as contributing to the development of working methods. You also need to stay updated on pedagogical development and coaching methods and always act professionally in your assignment.
